We just completed a 6-month stay at a beautiful Nanaimo, BC RV park. We had a 2-month reservation at another Nanaimo, BC RV Park that, unknown to us, was in the middle of changing ownership. During the change of ownership, they lost our reservation. They managed to find us a spot for 2 weeks but that’s it. We now have to find an alternate spot for our RV. We have been forced to adapt!
So where will go? We have no idea!
The most wonderful thing about this entire problem is that it’s really not a problem! We will just roll with it. We adapt! No big deal. There are other places to park. There are other campgrounds and RV parks. Who knows where we will end up and who we will meet because of this.
This has to be one of the things I love most about living in an RV. I feel like every day has so many more possible outcomes. My life feels like it’s a choose your own adventure book and I just reached the part where I have to choose a new path. When plans go sideways and you don’t know where you will be living 2 weeks it becomes the start of a new adventure or the start of worry. You get to choose how you will react and adapt.
Living in an RV is not always sunshine and roses. It can be a pain to have to hook up and go all the time. Not everything in our RV is bolted down like it was when we first got it because we removed some of the bolted down furniture for other items that we found more comfortable. So every time we move we have to do some extra work to make sure that nothing falls over, etc. Ultimately, for us, is not that big of a deal. We just have to move stuff around and box up some things before we pull in our slide and awning and head out.
So what’s the moral of this little story, you ask?
In my experience, even when you are living your dream, there will still be difficult times and bumps in the road (pun intended of course). It’s all about mindset. Are you welcoming adventure? Are you welcoming new experiences? If so, the little setbacks, aren’t really problems. They are opportunities.
The universe stepped in and has decided that the perfect place for us isn’t where we thought we would be. Doesn’t this happen to everyone from time to time? Just when you think you have a solid plan the universe says “nope, you need to go over here instead. This is a better choice for you.” So what else are you going to do but respond with “okay universe, lead on…” You can kick and scream and cry about it but it won’t change a thing.
I’ve learned to trust the forks in the road when they happen. I have learned to trust them when they are minor such as when your reservation gets lost. I have also learned to trust them when they have been life-altering such a breakup or an unexpected loss of a job. These events can difficult and painful but they can lead you somewhere better if you allow it.
So now what?
Not sure where we will be going next but we have 2 weeks to figure it out. I can’t wait to see where we end up. What an adventure life can be.
